Thanks to a lovely microclimate (300 days sunshine a year) in this part of France, hiking and other outdoor sports are great activities to do, during spring and autumn.

We have a lot of experience with hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking in the area. Detailed maps and guides are available in our house, we will, of course, be prepared to furnish you with all the details you would like for planning your trips.

Hiking 

We have descriptions of walks with swimming possibilities in the Ardèche, Cèze or Chassezac river.

The tourist office in Barjac has maps for hiking around Barjac. 

Possibility to participate in hiking-tours with a professional guide in the Cévennes and Ardèche mountains.

A lot of choice in the direct surroundings of Barjac for hiking, including different "Grand Randonée routes", some suggestions:

Canoe and Canoying:

The Viking Bateaux offers you the opportunity to row the "Gorges de l'Ardeche" in a canoe or kayak or to go "canyoning" in the Chassezac river...

Golf:  By clicking on the next image, you get a link to all the golf courses in the Languedoc Roussillon. Not far from Barjac you find the golf courses ofj Uzès (9 holes), Villefort (9 holes), Nîmes (18 holes) en Avignon (18 holes).

Horse riding with English guide:

Between sun warmed rocks, babbling brooklets, hills and vineyards...

The horses of horse farm "Le Malibaud", just outside Barjac live during the whole year in a flock and mostly free in the fields around the farm. kind and calm or lively and sensitive, for every rider, beginning or experienced, there is a horse available that fits "like a boot in a stirrup"...                                                                                                   

Day trips, calm "balades", or sportive rides, are all possible. I harmony with a reliable horse, you can ride through varying and wild landscape. 

Mountain biking and other outdoor sports 

Renting mountain bikes and quads is possible in Barjac. For activities like paragliding, rock climbing, potholing, etc. we can recommend good addresses.

In February the almond trees and mimosa's are in bloom, but a 1,5 hours drive away at "La croix de Bauzon" (1511m) skiing and "langlaufen" is still possible. There are six slopes. Check out this website for activities in the higher mountains: La croix de Bauzon
